Modular container-type package transformer substation with sandwich panels BKTP
The upgraded container-type substation in block-box metal housing
Application of sandwich-panel transformer substations: are used for electric power supply, mining operations, residential and public facilities, and for other municipal, business and manufacturing consumers.
Design of the modular container-type package transformer substation (BKTP) heat-insulated with sandwich panels:
For areas of the Far North, substations are designed as a robust space structure (module) shielded with sandwich panels. All the external elements are made of zincalume plated sheet steel and coated with powdered enamel.
The housing of modular substations is designed as a welded structure made of rolled steel and rigid enough to be transported and support sandwich 3-layer wall panels consisting of:
• Outer skin: galvanized profile, 0.5 mm thick.
- Profile is fixed to supporting framework with self-tapping screws.
• Inner layer: finishing material.

Vapor/waterproofing parchment URSA insulation
Inner finishing at option: fiberboard, clapboard, PVC panels
Dimensions of the standard block-container substation (BKTP): 2450х5900х2500 mm (w/l/h)
The housing of the modular substation consists of compartments:
- Transformer compartment for a transformer of any type (TM, TMG, TMZ, or TSZ).
- high-voltage switchgear compartment for high-voltage switching and protection devices (load-break switch and fuses) as well as for factory-made high-voltage cells (KSO switchgear cells - factory-assembled switchgear cells of one-sided maintenance).
- low-voltage switchgear compartment for automatic circuit-breakers, master switches and electrical panels (SCHO or VRU-type).
The modular substation is designed to meter active and reactive energy, using meters and current transformers. The substation has a heating system to ensure optimum operating conditions for electrical equipment.
The substation has maintenance corridors ensuring easy and safe maintenance all the year round. The doors and gates are designed as safe-doors to make maintenance easy and reliable.
The distinguishing feature of sandwich-panel transformer substations is location of supporting elements inside the facility, thus, making it possible to eliminate cold bridges and, consequently, risk of condensate inside HV and LV compartments.
The doors, walls and ceiling of the compartment for HV and LV switchgears are lined with sandwich-type panels; the floor has similar insulation. The panel filler is mineral wool plate made of basalt fiber. Sandwich panels have Class I as fire resisting rating in compliance with SNiP. The outer layer of sandwich wall panels is made of thin sheet steel, zinc plated and painted, PK grade.
The frame for the heat-insulated substation is made of structural steel and coated with anti-corrosive layer. The floors of heat-insulated substations - type TP, KTP, BKTP, 2BKTPM - are made of duralumin corrugated sheets. Ventilation is through open-end holes in the maintenance corridor or ventilation duct in the two-layer roof.
The sandwich heat-insulated transformer substation has the required strength characteristics and dimensions; it is easy to assemble and operate. The temperature inside the substation is set within the range required by the customer. The container-type substation has equipment that is similar to the kiosk-type substation; at customers' request, additional devices can be installed (automatic circuit-breaker, signaling system...) in accordance with the Data Sheet.
